Problem: SalesForce was developing a social media piece to incorporate into their existing CRM. They needed to know what, if any, best practices existed in using social media to help conduct business.
Process: Two rounds of competitor analysis testing was completed. The first round consisted of gathering feedback when using Facebook for business purposes. The second round repeated the first study and added a prototype of the new social media piece. Results: SalesForce used the findings and recommendations in their creation of Chatter. Chatter is the social media feature available in all SalesForce builds. What I did: Designed the testing protocol and conducted both rounds of testing all 15 interviews. Analyzed and presented the data to SalesForce for each round. |
Problem: Moen wanted to get into the touchless faucet game and was in the process of deciding which design to go with. They needed to understand the pros and cons for two different remotely activated faucets.
Process: One round of competitor analysis was completed. A motion-activated video camera was set up to capture usage of the faucets. Even plumber feedback was gathered from the install and removal of the competitor faucets. After that, Moen created several different prototypes to test. The first round of user testing was used to narrow the feature set, and the second round was used to refine rounds of competitor analysis testing was done. Results: Moen used the findings and recommendations in their creation of their first touch-less faucet - Haysfield Faucet. What I did: Designed the testing protocol and conducted the first and last rounds of testing (out of three). The last round of testing included 17 participants. I analyzed the data and included some human factors best practices. I presented the data to Moen for the first and last round of testing. |
